Halal Sushi Recipe

My kids love to eat sushi. Here in Arabia, maybe I still dare to buy sushi from the restaurant because of the materials used in shaa Allah is guaranteed halal (although not always). But when we go to the restaurant outside Saudi, I should be more careful. Is there a halal certificate for the restaurant? If not, we do not buy. Because even though the contents of the sushi is fish/seafood or vegetables, but the ingredient in it can contain sake and the like.

Of course making your own sushi is much safer, because we can see which are lawful and unlawful of ingredients. If you are a fan and want to make your own sushi at home, you may try the following recipe:

Ingredients needed:

  1. Seaweed / sushi wrap
  2. Thai rice or a special sushi rice, cook it with rice cooker
  3. Vinegar, salt, sugar, sesame oil (if you like)

Fillings:

  1. Smoked salmon, slice lengthwise
  2. Crab sticks that are available in supermarkets, briefly boiled, cut lengthwise
  3. Avocado / cucumber, cut into thin

How to make 1 roll of sushi:

Prepare a medium size bowl. Put 1 tsp vinegar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp sugar, 1 tsp sesame oil. Stir until all dissolved. Add 2 scoop of hot cooked rice into a bowl, stir until blended.

Put 1 piece of sushi wrap, put the rice dough, flattens throughout the leaf of seaweed. Give the filling according to taste such as salmon / crab, can be combined with avocado or cucumber.

Then roll and condense it. Do it again for another roll. I prefer to prepare one by one roll to keep the rice hot. For the rolling tool it can be aided by bamboo roll that is available in Korea / Japan stores. If you do not have, you can use aluminium foil to help you roll and condense the rice. Drain it first at room temperature and then put inside refrigerator for a few minutes.

When it is slightly hardened, then slice and put it on a plate. The sushi is ready and can be served with soy sauce dressing.

Good luck
