The Story of Prophet Salih ‘Alaihis Salam, My Trip to Jordan (2)

Day Three

Early in the morning after breakfast at the hotel we left for Petra, the location of which must be taken for at least 3 hours from Amman. Petra is a cursed location of Nabathean kingdom because the people did not hear the words of the Prophet Saleh to worship Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala.

Nabath tribe came before  the prophet Salih ‘Alaihis Salam which is know for the Thamud. Thamud settled in Jordan (known today) reaching the north of Damascus. Nabath’s nation was over reaching, ranging from Madain Saleh in Medina, Petra in Jordan to Damascus in Syria.

They were famous for good at sculpt and carve stones natural red mountains. They worshiped idols and worship the goddess of fate, Manat and Hubal. (wikipedia)

And remember when He made you successors after the ‘Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption.” (QS Al-A’raf 74)

We arrived at the destination Petra ahead of dhuhur time. Entrance ticket was about 50 JD per person.  To save time we rented two wagons headed to the door of Nabathean complex. The cost was around 20-35 JD per wagon round trip and the wagon is only enough for 2 adults. Renting could save time up to an hour of walk especially for us who had a small child.

Subhanallah…………. Petra is a very beautiful place. It is really large area. Our road path is surrounded by carved stone of 50 meters height. Cannot imagine how powerful of the Nabathean people were. No wonder they were incredibly arrogant.

Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people to those who were oppressed – to those who believed among them, “Do you [actually] know that Salih is sent from his Lord?” They said, “Indeed we, in that with which he was sent, are believers.” (QS al-A’raf 75)

Day Four

Our last day in Jordan, we spent our time to Jerash, Amman. Jerash is the remains of ancient Roman as well. Along the way to Jerash many traders sold green olive and black eggplant. Jordan is popular with its olive. In Jerash, there is a field that contains seats to see horse races, a show to see a Roman soldier in a modern style where we can watch for

40 minutes, and pay for 12 JD per person.

From Jerash we continued up to the hill of Salahuddin fort. Because it was almost sunset, we were free of charge and could come inside of the fort. We went into the ancient fort and went up the stairs leading to the very high top. It was quite tiring. But from the top we could see three countries Jordan, Syria, and Palestine. SubhanAllah.

Unfortunately we had to come back to our hotel as our flight back to Jeddah was at 2.55 am. So at 11.30 pm we had to go to the airport. My children looked sad as they really enjoy the holiday. Four days seemed not enough for them to visit the place. You will not regret to go Jordan especially during this cold season.
